About Breakin’ Bread

From Dorm Room Dreamers to Digital Disruptors.

Breakin’ Bread was co-founded by Anscia Terelle Brown and Alexis Hall—two visionary Black women who first met as freshman business students at St. John’s University in Queens, New York. What started as a college friendship quickly became a sisterhood fueled by a shared passion for marketing, storytelling, and making space for voices often left out of the room.

After graduating, Anscia and Alexis pursued different paths—Anscia building her brand marketing consultancy in NYC and Alexis launching a creative agency in Atlanta. But no matter the project or client, one truth remained: Black creatives were still being undervalued, underpaid, and underserved.

They were tired of watching their community operate in silos, forced to choose between passion and payment—especially while others profited from the very culture Black creatives built. So they decided to build something different.

A Platform Built by Black Creatives, for Black Creatives.

Breakin’ Bread is more than just a digital space—it’s a movement designed to empower vetted Black creatives, entrepreneurs, and business professionals through connection, collaboration, and capital.

We created this platform to solve three key problems we’ve lived through:

  • Isolation – Too many of us are building alone without access to the right people or projects.

  • Invisibility – The algorithm isn’t working in our favor, and it’s time for a platform that sees and celebrates us.

  • Inequity – We’re often asked to work for less, even while delivering more. Breakin’ Bread helps change that.

A New Economy, Rooted in Culture.

We’re building an all-in-one ecosystem centered on three core pillars:

  • Community: A vetted network of Black creatives and professionals committed to mutual growth.

  • Business Tools: A streamlined system to manage contracts, proposals, and payments—without the guesswork.

  • Marketplace: A space where clients can directly find, hire, and fairly compensate Black creative talent.

Whether you’re a copywriter, strategist, designer, filmmaker, developer, or entrepreneur—Breakin’ Bread is here to support your brilliance, not exploit it.

More Than a Name—It’s a Mindset.

In our culture, breaking bread is about more than sharing a meal. It’s about trust, connection, and community. It’s sitting at the table with people you believe in—and making sure everyone eats.

For us, Breakin’ Bread means building something bigger than ourselves. It’s about splitting the profits, sharing the wins, and creating an ecosystem where Black creatives don’t just survive—they thrive.

This journey has been led by purpose and covered in prayer. We’ve kept God at the center of every decision, trusting that the right people, the right timing, and the right opportunities will continue to find us.
